Hi, I’m David, the person behind Little Modern Leaf.
I started bringing plants into my home in 2021 as part of the décor. Before long, decorating turned into collecting. My collection began with Monstera, Philodendron, and Scindapsus, but Alocasia eventually stole my attention. Their shapes, textures, and colors still fascinate me.
With a background in design, I wanted to combine my love for plants with my love for making things. Discovering 3D printing opened that door. I began teaching myself how to design prints, experimenting with ways to improve the growing setups in my own collection.
My self-watering cups grew out of three goals: a cleaner appearance, less algae buildup, and an easier environment for my plants to thrive. Designing, using, and refining them became part of my growing routine—and eventually, part of Little Modern Leaf.
My methods have changed over the years, and I’m always learning. That curiosity also led me into tissue culture, with a small lab setup in my office. Watching plants develop at that scale has given me even more appreciation for how incredible they are.
Plants have become much more than decoration for me. They help me slow down, give me a creative outlet, and support my mental wellbeing.
Little Modern Leaf is where those interests come together: plants I love, products I design, and lessons I’m still learning along the way.
